You may have a good idea of how something will look, how it operates, and how much you are allowed to spend. The key question to ask is, what are the results you aim to achieve? Let’s start at that point and work backwards.
You talk, we listen... and sketch
When we meet you, our aim is to listen. We need to know exactly what you have in mind. You may want to modify an existing piece of equipment so it performs better and operates more efficiently. It may be that you need a mechanical solution to an issue you have, so upgrading will be the answer. It’s likely you need a new piece of equipment that is yet to be designed, costed, and installed for an affordable price.
What result do you want?
So invite us in to talk to you, and tell us exactly what you aim to achieve. You may have a good idea of how something will look, how it operates, and how much you are allowed to spend. The key question to ask is, what are the results you aim to achieve? Let’s start at that point and work backwards. That’s how we work.
Quick sketch, design next
Supported by quality software packages we are able to put together some visuals of the way something would look. We would keep it simple at first. A sketch would be done by David on-site, supported by measurements and features required. We would then prepare a basic computer aided design, as a draft, to see if we were working along the right lines. Our next discussion would be to advise of options, by designing in solutions.
At some point in every project, you need to produce a set of drawings that shows your model: plans, sections, elevations, perspectives. With our 'SketchUp' software package we can add model views to pages, choose drawing scales, adjust line weights and add dimensions, callouts and graphics. Changes to your model are reflected automatically in layout.
For mechanical engineering tasks we use ‘SketchUp Pro’ which is like a pencil with superpowers. Started by drawing lines and shapes, we then are able to push and pull surfaces to turn them into 3D forms. This helps us prepare a decent graphic. It helps you visualise what the final product will look like. You’ll get a feel for its size, layout, features, colour and overall look.
When offering electrical engineering solutions we use 'Amtech Pro', a specialist piece of software designed to explain and demonstrate the electrical side of the application.
Finalise the design
After talking through and fine tuning the preferred design, we would prepare an accurate drawing, to whatever standard you require, from basic C.A.D. to process flow simulation.
We prioritise the results you want to achieve. We strive to offer practical, workable, affordable solutions for both electrical and mechanical engineering projects.
